I LOVE to bake. I started baking seriously in high school. I had a lot of school spirit, I loved football, and all my guy friends were
on the football team. When they made the playoffs I wanted to do something nice for them, so I decided to bake them cookies. That's
when the tradition started. They loved my cookies and came to expect them year after year! That's when I knew that I was a pretty good
baker. I only baked the cookies during the playoffs, not the regular season. That was their reward.
I never really ventured out in baking until a few years ago. I started decorating cakes after getting hooked on the Martha Stewart show. I thought: 'I can do that'. So I did. But it was mostly just holiday cakes that I saw on her show or website, nothing fancy.
When my little sister was planning her wedding in March 2007, my mom and aunt came up with the brilliant idea that I should make the wedding cake. I was very excited! My aunt looked online and found a beginning cake decorating class offered at Hobby Lobby. I signed up immediately and then the madness began! I spent the next 4 months taking class after class after class. And I've been going strong ever since.
I've started using this cake business as a way to raise money for the Nicaragua mission trip that I go on each summer.
